Mexico 2011

In the year of 2005, Mexico defeat Brazil against all odds in the final of the U-17 World Cup celebrated in Peru, despite of the low media coverage of this competition and the zero hopes from the so called experts, Mexico´s team won the World Cup. Now in the year 2011, this country was selected to host the FIFA’s U-17 World Cup and therefore continuing to honour these Nation for the third time by receiving youth promises of football from all over the world.

Mexico it’s a well know Latin-American country with a respectable tradition in sports and a solid major league of football integrated by 17 teams and the most important thing, it was the scenario of the 1970’s World Cup where Brazil and the football star Pele won their third World Cup.

In 1986, Mexico was for second time host of the World Cup of football, by now one most worldwide event in sports. The inauguration day was May 31th in the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City and without any doubt the images and the everlasting goals of that tournament are from the Argentinean player Maradona. Ultimate it was Argentina that conquered the trophy after defeating Deutschland.

Nowadays, the U-17 World Cup stars in June 18th and after check the calendar games, it realize that this time only the 3rd place and the grand finale would be the only two games to be play in the Aztec Stadium. Therefore other places have been selected to hold the prior rounds of the tournament. Cities like Morelia, Guadalajara, Queretaro, Monterrey, Torreon and Pachuca are some of the current arenas for these encounters. Although, all the local security problems that shows a few Mexican cities today, the major security of the event it’s out of the question and the law enforcement and the FEMEXFUT guaranties the safety for all teams.

Particularly, one of these new scenarios it’s the Hurricane stadium in Hidalgo, house of the Pachuca team, five times champions in the Mexican league, 2007 Champions of the South American Cup and by far one of the clubs with the most constant growth and advanced facilities in the 1999-2009 decade. The City of Pachuca is going to be the hostess of England, Canada, Uruguay and Rwanda.

Finally, the Mexican media coverage will be completely different this time compare to what happen in 2005 and the most precious thing, more people would have the chance to breathe the World Cup environment and live the games like the past generations did in the 1970’s and 1986’s tournaments. The Mexican team would have all the support from its crowd playing as a local and the opportunity to confirm their potential in this category by playing on July 10th in the Aztec Stadium against fate.

Mexico’s first round:
Mexico vs. North Korea June 18th in Morelia
Mexico vs. Congo June 21th in Morelia
